FAQ
We wanted to make eating vegan as easy as possible. For ourselves and for everyone who loves a healthy meal that is easy and quick to prepare. Whether it is every day or every now and then. Because if everyone would choose plant-based food more often, we could make a big positive impact on the planet together.
Because we love eating vegan, but we want it to be as easy as possible. That’s why we decided to develop nutritionally balanced and delicious vegan frozen ready meals that you can easily get in the supermarket. Free from junk, full of plant-based ingredients. We do the work, so you can be a Lazy Vegan!
Exactly! That's why we want you to sit back and relax after a busy day. You don't have to think about your meal anymore, we've already done that. Your meal is ready within 8 minutes. You're welcome 🙂
We have a page for that.
The meals are complete as they are. If you like or enjoy it, you can of course add something extra. We have even thought about it: check our serving tips.
No need to defrost, just throw the ingredients in the pan! Add your favorite oil and stir occasionally over medium heat. Dream away a little with the delicious smells that are released. But not for too long, because within a few minutes your meal is ready to serve. Now that's nice and lazy.
The microwave is also your friend: put the meal in a bowl or plate and put a lid on it. Then heat: 6 minutes at 900W, 7 minutes at 800W, or 8 minutes at 700W (stir halfway).
Store them in your freezer at -18C or colder. And don't refreeze the meals after thawing.
Our meals are made from 100% natural and plant-based ingredients. As a plant-based brand, we do not use any animal ingredients. So no meat, no dairy, no fish and no eggs. Each meal contains lots of crunchy vegetables and delicious herbs. Some meals contain plant-based chicken pieces made from pea protein.
Each meal contains 400 or 450 grams, which is enough for one adult for lunch or dinner. Are you a big eater or do you want to share your meal with someone else? Then take a look at our lazy serving tips for some ideas to variate!
As true food nerds, we carefully examine and triple-check all vegetables, proteins and nutrients for taste, health and impact.
Our meals contain over 200 grams of vegetables and most of them have a high protein content (around 23 grams), even higher than comparable meals with meat. We do not add preservatives and most of our meals have the Nutri-score A label. A few of the meals have the B label, still a very healthy choice.
Doesn't sound very sexy, does it? But what if you hear that freezing ensures that vegetables and fruits retain their vitamins and minerals? If you store vegetables or fruits in the refrigerator or outside, this decreases every hour. By freezing them immediately after harvesting, you have the highest nutritional value on your plate. Also, by freezing, we don't have to add extra salt or preservatives to promote shelf life. Another plus is that freezing helps prevent food waste. The meals have a long shelf life, and you can choose when to eat them. That saves a vegetable drawer full of soggy peas.
Not all of our meals are gluten free, but many are! There really is a Lazy Vegan meal for everyone.
Hmm, that is a point. At the moment, our meals are not yet 100% organic. We would like to be and we are working on that. Because we work with about 30 to 40 different ingredients per meal, the bioavailability is unfortunately still too limited to switch completely. As soon as we do that, you will read it here!
Yes and no. It depends on your definition of 'local'. Currently 95% of the ingredients we use are grown in Europe and we aim to increase this percentage and source increasingly closer to home.
By the way, our head office and development team are located in Amsterdam.
Yes, all meals are completely non-GMO
Yes, we are part of the B-Corp community, a group of companies that use their power for good! At Lazy Vegan, we are committed to sustainability and creating a positive social impact in everything we do. Not only by making it easy to eat plant-based and healthy, but also in the way we run our business. That makes our meals even more delicious, don’t you think?
The packaging is made of plastic, which is of course not necessarily sustainable. We have not yet found a way to replace plastic entirely. Also, the packaging options made of cardboard (which always has a plastic layer in the packaging) are not more sustainable than the current plastic bags that we use. They are of course recyclable with the plastic waste.
By freezing vegetables and fruit immediately after harvesting, not only are the nutrients well preserved, but it can also be stored for much longer. Both in the chain (i.e. from farmer to wholesalers and supermarkets) and in your own vegetable drawer.
Meals or products that are not stored frozen are at greater risk of spoiling before they are bought or eaten. About a third of all our food is wasted in this way. With a frozen meal, you choose when you buy or eat it. And that saves a lot of waste.
By not eating animals or animal products you contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, water, animal feed and land use. And you make many animals happier, of course.
Compared to the same meal with meat, each Lazy Vegan meal saves 0.68 kilos of CO2, 480 liters of water and 1.25 kilos of animal feed, to be precise.
